Nimman (pronounced Nimm – Ahn), Chiang Mai’s most posh area, is becoming well known for its instagrammable cafes and coffee shops. While there are quite a few gems in the area, I’m going to highlight my top three. Forewarning: these places are priced at a double dollar sign price range ($$), which is about 200-300 baht ($6-$9 USD) per meal.
SS1254372 and Gallery Seescape (located on Nimman Soi 17 and open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. except on Mondays)

SS Cafe (my personal nickname for this spot) is by far my favorite cafe in CNX. SS is an open concept cafe that doubles as an art gallery called Gallery Seescape. I would say it’s a bit pricey, but it’s worth it. The fresh fruit juices and natural ingredients make this place awesome. Once you’re finished your meal, you can hop on over to the gallery and check out some artwork by budding Thai artists.
My favorites from the SS cafe are the smoked salmon and avocado bagel with capers and the passionfruit juice. I also have to give an honorable mention to the potatoes, which can be cooked up upon request!

About Pencil Coffee (located on Nimman Soi 7 and open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
About Pencil is a cute dessert cafe where you can snap the perfect Instagram photo. About Pencil has delicious waffle desserts that can be paired with ice cream or whipped cream, they also have cotton candy desserts and cakes. See the picture up top for a look at my favorite dessert. The cafe has an adorable ball pit filled with stuffed props to assist you in getting the perfect Instagram. About Pencil is the ideal cafe for a sweet treat and a sweet Instagram.
My favorite from About Pencil is the waffle with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and chocolate chips.
Rustic & Blue (located on Nimman Soi 7 and open from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.)

Rustic & Blue is a dope brunch, lunch, and dinner cafe that is vegetarian and vegan-friendly. This cafe has everything from açaí bowls and vegan ice cream to fried chicken and waffles for the meat-eaters. Rustic & Blue has an earthy setup with indoor and outdoor seating, large glass windows, and lots of greenery. My favorite thing on the cafe’s menu for pescatarians is the fish and chips, and for vegetarians, it’s the beer and cheddar soup. This cafe has perfected the art of vegan-friendly ice cream, so getting a scoop at the end of your meal is a must. Rustic & Blue is located directly across the street from About Pencil, so you can have lunch and then hop over to About Pencil for some Instagram fun.
